Images from nature
Ronnie Irvine
Retirement from
chemistry
teaching in 2003 allowed me to spend more leisure time
following interests in natural history, hill walking
and photography.
I enjoy searching for, and photographing rare wildflowers and fungi and think
of myself as a naturalist who takes photographs rather than a photographer
who takes nature photographs .
Most of the photographs have been taken with a Sigma SD14 camera.
I have recently changed to an SD15 which has
better low light performance.
The lenses used are a Sigma 100mm macro ,
Sigma 17-70 mm zoom and
Sigma 150mm-500mm telephoto . All are taken on the
spot, without artificial set-ups of any kind.
The Sigma SD15 is, to my mind, underrated as a camera.
It produces digital images with an almost three dimensional quality
and accurate saturated colours .
The camera body is chunky and robust, and takes rougher treatment
than many better known makes.
A
few photographs have been taken using a Canon S90 Digital Compact. The
web-site has been set up using my own limited knowledge of web design.
Everyone sees Earth through a different window, this is my window.
